From the Superintendent

Throughout our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our agency and our employees continue to impress me with their creativity and dedication to the people we serve. We have pivoted our operations, and most of our staff continue to work from home full-time. Although our offices look different, we’re still here for families and our support remains unchanged.

Recently, Gov. Mike DeWine announced coronavirus cases in Southwest Ohio, including Hamilton County, are growing at an alarming rate. In Hamilton County, the hotspot zip codes are: 45231, 45240 and 45238. Please continue to keep yourself safe by washing your hands, wearing a mask or face covering, following social distance guidelines, and staying home if you feel sick.

We recognize that many of the people we serve are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19. By continuing to work from home, conducting virtual meetings, and taking proper precautions for any required in-person meetings, we are doing our best to reduce the risk of transmission to the people we serve. Our role is vital to so many people and their families, and our employees are able to use technology to work efficiently from home. Moving forward, we will be very cautious in making any changes to our operations that might increase the risk to our staff or to the people we serve.

Although we made some of our operational changes in response to COVID-19, I expect that aspects of these adjustments will continue past the pandemic. In the future, effective remote work and technology use will allow us to reduce costs, attract talented employees, and better serve people in Hamilton County.

Finally, as you know, I will be retiring at the end of the year, and our Board is in the process of selecting the next superintendent. The job posting has closed and the Board has been reviewing applications. They will conduct the first round of interviews in July. We’ll keep you updated as we move through this process and the Board makes its decision.
