Open Encrypted Emails - Dec 7, 2013
In order to comply with new HIPAA laws, the agency is now emailing HIPAA sensitive information in an encrypted format.
Encrypted emails are encoded so that someone without a password cannot read it. Not all emails sent by someone at HCDDS will be encrypted, just emails with HIPAA sensitive information.
HIPAA sensitive information includes any information that could be used to identify a person who receives services or supports from Hamilton County DD Services. Information might include, but is not limited to, full names, email addresses, social security numbers, and photographic images, among others.
The first time you receive an encrypted email, you will get an additional email containing instructions on how to open the encrypted email.
